Reason #8
The soul that sins shall DIE!

Souls DIE? After going to church most of my life, I concluded that the common ‘belief’ is that the soul can’t be killed because it is immortal.

As mentioned above, Jerry Falwell used to teach that ‘there is no such thing as annihilation.’ But, unfortunately for proponents of this idea, the Bible says just the opposite.

Instead, Ezekiel 18:4 says: ‘4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sins, it shall die.'

Again in verse 20: 'The soul that sins, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness;'

And then in James 5:20 we read: 20 ‘Let him know, that he which converts the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.’

Yes, souls DIE and they will stay dead for all time to come.

The word translated as ‘soul’ just means a being or person or life or living being. I did not write these words; God did. Him I can trust to tell the truth.

I cannot trust men. What about you? May I urge you to trust no man, but God only? There is no such thing as an ‘immortal soul’, except for God, for he only has immortality.

The Apostle Paul said this to Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:13-16: ‘13 I give you charge in the sight of God, who quickens all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; 14 That you keep this commandment without spot, un-rebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

15 Which in his times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 16 Who only has immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man has seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen.'

Jesus is the ONLY human who was ever raised from the dead to immortality.
The righteous dead stay that way until they are raised from the dead and that is in God’s timing.

Thus, they are not in 'heaven' now, but in God's memory bank awaiting their resurrection.
